Portsmouth Fire Station

Project Scope:

The Portsmouth Fire Station is a Historical Building. The Fire Station door openings needed to be raised in height and widened to properly fit the new larger fire truck and emergency vehicles. Turnstone Corporation was able to work on two doors at a time. The Fire Station was fully operational while construction was ongoing. The coordination between Turnstone and the users of the building was critical for so many reasons.

The site constraints were significant on this site as the staging area was only the area in front of the doors that were being worked on. There were many specialty items for this project including cutting the granite stones to fit the new smaller piers, the structural steel that had to be installed at each of the doors and fully tie in along the structure, the structural shoring and the specialty masonry and stone work. The pictures shown do not do the complexities of this project, but hopefully, they will give you an idea.
